AlooTamtar Shorba (Potatoe Tomatoe soup) – My Navratri Day 4 Meal

Hi Everyone

So for my Day 4 Meal, I wanted to have something simple and decided to make Aloo Tamtor Shorba-Bhaaji/ Potatoe Tomatoe Soup.

Yes, I know there is a lot of Potatoes & Tomatoes in my meal, but I love them and as they are the acceptable produce I can eat during my Navratri fast,it’s a win win situation for me.

RECIPE
1 Servings | 30 Prep Time | 45 Total Time

INGREDIENTS
2 / Tomatoes
2 / chopped green chilies
1/4 tspn / Jeera-Cummin
5-6 / Curry leaves
3-4 tbsp/ vegetable oil
100-150 ml / Water
Special rock salt or as we call it Sendha salt as per taste

DIRECTIONS
Boil & Peel the potatoes chopping them in rough small cubes. Next purée, the tomatoes and have them ready for the soup.


In a pot, heat up the oil and cummin, green chilies, & curry leaves.
Temper them for 1 min and add in the Tomatoe purée & salt. Cook the purée on a medium flame for 6-7 minutes till the rawness of the Tomatoe dissipates.

Just added the Tomatoe purée to the tempering


Once, the Tomatoe purée is cooked down add in the potatoes & water making sure the soup isn’t too liquid.
Bring the entire soup to a boil by turning up the heat and then turn it down to a simmer for 10 minutes.

Serve, with freshly chopped Coriander/Cilantro leaves.
